HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED why the name of this blog is BeYeGlad? Sometimes what is written is nothing to be glad about. Like a few posts ago. I wrote about depression. How does this fit with the general theme of this blog? It gets confusing. Right?
Here are the reasons:
I need a nudge. The theme of this blog reminds me to think glad thoughts. When life gets me down I need a gentle nudge To Be Glad!
I need a reason. No matter what’s happening in this life, good or bad, Jesus is the reason To Be Glad. Why? He is my Savior. He’s enough.
I need a source. I can’t produce glad feelings on my own. Joy comes from the Spirit of Jesus within the heart of a believer. Joy is the second fruit in the spiritual fruit bowl of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithful and self-control.¹
What makes your heart glad? Is it something in this life? A special blessing, a beloved grandchild, a long awaited answer to prayer?
Or is it in the World to come?
As Laura Story writes in her song Blessings:
What if Your blessings come through raindrops?
Laura Story
What if Your healing comes through tears?
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near?
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the arching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy?
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your blessings in disguise?²

Amen, Lena Rae. I too need a nudge, a reason, and an eternal source. Working with young children is a real “force multiplier” for me. Kids (especially the younger ones) charge my batteries! Have a blessed 4th!

Thank you for the reminder of Laura Story’s song. The Lord indeed makes me glad and is a great source of hope in such a chaotic world, He makes me look forward to a life spent in eternity with Him also.😡

We all need reminders to look to God and eternity which reminders me this morning of the song by J. DuBose:
“I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter His courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice for He has made me glad. He has made me glad. Oh! He has made me glad. I will rejoice for His has made me glad. He has made me glad. Oh! He has made me glad. I will rejoice for His has made me glad.”
