Last week the Bible study I led broke for the summer. There were 8 women who attended. This is a nice number for a Bible study. We studied Philippians, Titus and the Gospel of Matthew inductively.¹

Women cannot have it all. To think we can is a fallacy.
The Feminist Movement began when I was in high school. It had a huge impact on my generation and beyond. Feminists were known for throwing off the traditions once held by women. Feminism was recognized for freedom from the existing roles and expectations of women, as mothers and keepers of the home.

Something beautiful has happened in my life. On this blog I have written about my memory and the concern that this would have a negative effect on leading a Bible study. After praying gobs about it I concluded God would use me in spite of it. Nothing is too difficult for God.
I shut the door and went to bed
I’m not one to normally take to my bed. But when a couple trying circumstances hit at once that’s just what I did. First were feelings of failure then the loss of power, finally helplessness. I shut the bedroom door and went to bed. I was a wreck.

I have been leading a study to see if I was able to lead at my age, with my memory issues. This was with the idea of leading a church ministry in the fall. It has been a joy.

I knew this day would come. God is leading me away from blogging weekly. For the last 9 years I’ve been blogging intermittently but steady for the last four. I have made lots of friends. I am thankful for each one who is following this blog.

A book¹ I once read quoted this verse, “Those who believe in the Son of God have a testimony of God in them.”² Our testimonies or stories are unique. God wants us to be intentional about sharing them. Mine is about how a church lady became a Christian. This may sound a bit backwards. At the same time, you may relate.

A reader disagreed with my last blog post. It cited scientific research which claims, people reading or listening to the Bible four times a week, are less likely to practice behaviors such as gambling, pornography, drunkenness, and sex outside of marriage.¹ The reader’s argument goes as follows:

You’ve heard this before but it’s still hard to hear. American Christians are Biblically illiterate. The problem is epidemic.¹

I have a sincere conviction that marriage is a covenant agreement between a man and a woman. This conviction is based on the Bible. I believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible and authoritative Word.

I am a Christian so whenever a Democrat becomes President I am concerned. It feels like the ground is shifting under my feet. I wonder what it will mean for Christians. I speculate whether Christians will be persecuted with the inevitable changes.

Before continuing on I would like to share what I learned from my readers. Last week’s post was whether America, in the true sense of the word, was ever a Christian nation. I concluded it was not.

As a Christian, how can I say President Joe Biden is God’s man for our times? Especially after Biden just lifted the transgender military ban. Am I deluded? Would you believe God showed me this while I was reading the Bible and praying?

In my distress I send up prayers to God. When God answers my little, inadequate prayers I am always amazed. Compared to the grand scheme of things, my prayers are trivial and trite. God surely has more important things to do.

When the mob descended on the U.S. capitol this week did you wonder what was happening to America? Maybe you have been thinking about this long before Trump-supporters occupied Congress. I know I have.

On Sundays when I was kid, I would dress up in my Sunday best, go to church, sing praises to God, hear a great sermon and go home to a big Sunday dinner. When I grew up I continued the same practice. Plus I read the Bible, attended Bible study and sang in the choir.

Do your pastor’s sermons inspire you to live for Jesus? This past week my pastor did just that. The scripture was from Mark 9:14-29. This is the story about the epileptic son that the disciples could not heal.

If asked people would give different answers to the question, “What makes a person a Christian?” Let’s skip people’s opinions and go straight to the Bible. How does the Bible answer this question?
