It’s Been a Sacrifice

Lord, I really don’t want to do this

Last week the Bible study I led broke for the summer. There were 8 women who attended. This is a nice number for a Bible study. We studied Philippians, Titus and the Gospel of Matthew inductively.¹

Beyond Feminism

Women cannot have it all. To think we can is a fallacy.

The Feminist Movement began when I was in high school. It had a huge impact on my generation and beyond. Feminists were known for throwing off the traditions once held by women. Feminism was recognized for freedom from the existing roles and expectations of women, as mothers and keepers of the home.

Obedience

When God is speaking

I knew this day would come. God is leading me away from blogging weekly. For the last 9 years I’ve been blogging intermittently but steady for the last four. I have made lots of friends. I am thankful for each one who is following this blog.

I Believe

The Apostle’s Creed

Photo by James Wheeler
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence He shall come to
judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit;
the Holy Catholic* Church;
the communion of the saints;
the forgiveness of sin;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

This is My Father’s World

By Him were all things created … that are in the earth. — Colossians 1:16

Photo by eberhard grossgasteiger
This is my Father's world,
And to my list'ning ears,
All nature sings,
and round me rings
The music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world,
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees,
of skies and seas-
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
The birds their carols raise;
The morning light, the lily white
Declares their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world.
He shines in all that's fair;
In the rustling grass
I hear Him pass,
He speaks to me ev'rywhere.

This is my Father's world,
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world,
The battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and heaven be one.

A Church Lady Becomes a Christian

The things I did polluted the good I was doing.

A book¹ I once read quoted this verse, “Those who believe in the Son of God have a testimony of God in them.”² Our testimonies or stories are unique. God wants us to be intentional about sharing them. Mine is about how a church lady became a Christian. This may sound a bit backwards. At the same time, you may relate.

Perfect in Everyway

Jesus is perfect so we can stand before a holy God

Are people supposed to be perfect? I’ve been asking myself this question while getting ready for visitors. As soon as we knew they were coming we went into high gear preparing, cleaning and fixing up.

Religious Rights Threatened

What Christians can do about LGBTQ threat

LGBTQ people are trying to raise their civil rights above religious rights.¹ They are doing this by the legislation called The Equality Act. If this passes you will not have the right to voice or practice a different belief, without being hassled, bullied, sued, fined, or imprisoned.

God So Loved the World

A Beautiful Song!

God So Loved the World.
God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoso believeth, believeth in Him
should not perish, should not perish
but have everlasting life.

Joe Biden – part 2

God’s Man for our Times

I am a Christian so whenever a Democrat becomes President I am concerned. It feels like the ground is shifting under my feet. I wonder what it will mean for Christians. I speculate whether Christians will be persecuted with the inevitable changes.

American Heritage | What is it?

A culture that cannot save

Before continuing on I would like to share what I learned from my readers. Last week’s post was whether America, in the true sense of the word, was ever a Christian nation. I concluded it was not.

Joe Biden | God’s Man for Our Times

Moving forward no matter what

As a Christian, how can I say President Joe Biden is God’s man for our times? Especially after Biden just lifted the transgender military ban. Am I deluded? Would you believe God showed me this while I was reading the Bible and praying?

In the Fullness of Time

More Sundays when I was a kid

When the fullness of time came,
God sent forth His Son,
born of a woman,
born under the Law,
so that He might redeem those
who were under the Law,
that we might receive
the adoption as sons.
Galatians 4:5 NASB

Navigating Loneliness — Grace to be Imperfect

The following post is by Hannah. -Lena 💗

This is a topic that I’ve wanted to write about for a long time, but I have struggled to articulate my thoughts until recently. I believe that our world is currently going through one of the loneliest seasons in human history and therefore the topic of loneliness is more relevant than ever before. The global […]

What Makes a Christian?

The theology behind salvation

How do people become Christians? Is it a decision for Christ? A belief in Jesus? Repentance of sin? Heaven forbid! It is not. It is 100% the work of God through Christ.

Christians Are too Political

Hoping in mere humans who will die in the end

Christian evangelicals helped vote Ronald Reagan, both Bushes and Donald Trump into office. Conservatives began voicing their concerns, about America’s morality, following the establishment of the Moral Majority in 1979. Their goal was to call America back to its moral roots. By 1989 the movement disbanded having accomplished its goals.¹

Christian over-involvement in politics has troubled me for forty years. I am concerned for the following reasons.
