Six Months after the Flood

This has been quite a year, hasn’t it? Four major events happen in my life. How about you? My son had health problems. My daughter had personal problems. Then there was Covid. And if that’s not enough, our county had major flooding after 2 dams failed. And because the dams failed, our drain tiles failed and water came into our finished basement.

Our dog Bean loves stuffed animals. When he gets a new one, he trots around with it in his mouth so happy. But what he loves most is shredding them! We are amazed if a stuffy lasts 2-3 days. Most stuffies last only a few hours. When this happens we have to take his plaything away or he eats the cotton insides.

Why does a loving God allow suffering? Inadvertently, a past post answered this question, at least in part. To begin with it must be understood that people, not God, are the source of suffering. God created a perfect world. The first man and woman though warned, disobeyed God.1 The result of this choice brought suffering, misery and pain to their world and ours.
