How Will You Handle Persecution?

Popular Thinking

American Christians realize that persecution is not far away. This is because today’s culture is hostile towards Christians. The secular world believes we are responsible for the Supreme Court overturn of Roe v Wade. They are half-expecting the same thing will happen to same gender marriages. They are alarmed about this.

When persecution strikes the US Christian community, as an individual, how will you handle it? Are you ready? When hostilities come will you hide under your bed or stand firm in your conviction, no matter what?

In less than a month, the Bible study I lead will begin. I am excited about what God will teach us this year. We are studying Jude, Galatians, 1 Peter, and 2 Peter. These studies are mostly about false teachers and false teaching. But I have been excited to discover they are also about standing firm in times of persecution.

Jude is about contending for the faith. Galatians tells us when Paul stood for the truth he was persecuted by the Judaizers. 1 Peter is about standing firm in testing and persecution. 2 Peter shows how to stand firm in the faith and not fall.

Whatever the future holds God wants to equip us through His Word. It is going to be another great year of growth “in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”¹ I can’t wait to get started.

At the same time, this means I will not be posting on this blog as much. This saddens me. I will miss the camaraderie of my blogging friends but I will be back next summer when the study is over. I hope your school year is a good one.

Meanwhile, farewell my dear friends!

  1. Thank you, Lena, for posting when you can. I appreciate that you obediently lead a Bible study group.

Lord God, bless Lena with wisdom and guidance through the Holy Spirit. Draw each participant into an intimate relationship with you becoming a servant who is not ashamed of standing firm on the truth of Scripture. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  2. Prayers as you begin Bible study, may it be a time of growing in wisdom, and experiencing deep love for God and others. Looking forward to what God may have you share in the future. In the meantime may we be bold for Him and His glory.
