Spring Road Trip

Spring is a beautiful time to travel

On Wednesday afternoon we returned from visiting family in Oklahoma and Texas. Spring is a beautiful time to travel with all the red buds and wild dogwood trees blooming.

We saw my mom, sister, and her family first in OK. We visited with each other while doing puzzles, a family pastime. At dinner time my sister put on a smorgasbord and the children and grandchildren came to eat. You would never know she does not like to cook.

Lost in St. Louis

Next stop was to my youngest sister and her husband in TX. I came down with a flu virus while traveling so we were limited in what we could do.

We did not get to see their son, his wife, and grandchildren. Another time I hope to see the children. We did visit with my sister’s husband, outdoors, from 6 feet away. No hugs. He has a chronic illness and lives in a nursing home.

Lu is also a good cook. She made awesome steaks and roasted potatoes baked in the oven. Plus, we went to a real Texan restaurant. They had every hamburger you could imagine. The beef was raised in Texas.

Sisters in Dallas Arboretum

On Sunday afternoon we went to the Dallas Arboretum which was wonderful, and the weather was great. I hope to visit it again. There was so much to see.

While in TX we stopped by and saw my husband’s cousin, too.

We had no trouble traveling until Indiana where the restaurants were delivery and curbside only. We bought our dinner from a Whole Food Market, and we were thankful that IN was the only state to have closed restaurants. We left home without even giving it a thought that some states would still be closed. And IN has a Republican governor!

The weather was great until IN when rain turned to snow — which thankfully did not stick to the roads. The ground was still warm from previous warm weather. Like IN it was cool when we arrived home.

The dog missed us terribly. He was one happy dog when we drove in the driveway!

I love Jesus! He is my eternal hope, fullness of joy, calm in the storm and so much more. I enjoy reading, cooking, blogging and bird watching. I have two wonderful kids and a loving husband. God is good.
